Because this lovely lady knew how to dress!

The Golden Age of Ginger Rogers is gone, only her films remain to distract from the replacement of talent with lip sync and airbrush. To fight this, I have started this blog, to chart my search for the films of Ginger Rogers, in the hope that others read it, contribute to it, and that it will ultimately become a place where those who love Ginger can discuss her life and work, and find her movies. Beth “My love for ice cream emerged at an early age--and has never left!” Ginger Rogers
Love all of these :D And she definitely did know how to dress!
ReplyDeleteLove these!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Ginger LOVED clothes and she seemed to know alot about them. I mean look at the way she works those dresses (especially Never Gonna Dance and You Can't Take That Away From Me in Barkleys). Also, I believe she pretty much designed the feather dress - I cant believe she was only 24 when that whole thing went down!
She is so dang cute in the 'younger' pics! and Of course, she was a 'clothes hound'...although Ginger is about as far removed from a 'hound' as one can be...
ReplyDeleteBTW - I just REALLY dig her in the hat she has on in the 'It Had to Be You' pic... maybe a bit 'too much ribbon stuff on the side', but she is just AWESOME in it! And Ginger in white is 'optimum conditions'... so that pic is in my wheelhouse...whatever the heck THAT means...
One of my favorites is kind of obscure: the poppy dress in the middle of Once Upon a Honeymoon, just before the Polish general is killed. I am in love with the neckline.
ReplyDeleteLove that one too Maggie. Another favorite from OUAH is the dress O'Toole buys Katie for their night in Paris. Just that shot of Ginger on the stairs. Wow!
ReplyDeleteI just found this blog today and I'm so excited! I've been reading through some of the posts and I'm really liking them. I especially liked watching the two figure skaters that were 'tap skating' Fred-Ginger style.
ReplyDeleteNever seen any of these before, love them! I love the way Ginger had a chameleon-esque air about her, she never looked the same in any photograph.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos, i love the second to last one. She was so beautiful and stylish x
