Finding Beth...

Having read the responses to my prior post, I'm here to in form all y'all who read, or have at one point read my Gingerised blog adventure, that things are going to change a bit.

I started this blog because I wanted to share my hunt for Ginger with others who love her as I do, and for the most part, we succeeded in finding her. BUt you can't search for ever, so this blog is going to have to take a new direction.

You see, I can tell you what I think of Ginger, which can pretty much be summed up in the word 'swell', and I can tell you all about her films and facts and the whole wonderful shebang, but to be honest, you can read/watch the latter yourself, and the first is a limited field. So from now onwards, I'm going to post more broadly, and talk about myself more; the things that Ginger has taught me, other films, other aspects of life, etc. If that's not what you signed on for, then I hope you find something that is, and thanks for reading. But I have faith in the blogging community, that your interest in what I have to say is more than just looking for another source of Ginger worship.

My blog will remain dedicated to Miss Ginger Rogers, as she remains my inspiration, and I shall post as much of her as I can. But wonderful as she is, I can't let Ginger, or anyone else limit me, and Finding Ginger, should never get in the way of Ffinding myself. My blog will remain vintage in spirit, Gingerish all over, but from this moment, will be Beth at heart.

  1. Good for you. Here's some food for thought...

In one of the special feature documentaries (I think Top Hat) someone mentioned that Ginger was so brilliant because she always made it look like she was enjoying herself and made every woman want to be on the arm of Fred Astaire.

Take that to heart - make every moment look like you're enjoying yourself!

PS - doing some snooping I think Ginger is going to be TCM's star of the month in March - lots of Ginger movies all the way to back to her early 30s stuff!

  3. Rock on, Beth!

ANY posting you do is fine with me, and 'general life' stuff is always great!
I kinda have the same issue with 'all Ginger' at times...I feel compelled to always make each post Ginger-related, and dang it, it's tough to find sufficient data sometimes... but I am going to also try to 'open up' on other 'general' topics...
Yeah, looks like TCM is loading up on Ginger in March, although the listing of her movies are all mixed up... would be cool if she was the 'Star of the Month'...bout dang time!!!
Anyway, looking forward to your posts, Beth! Hope school is going well...keep us updated on that - how is your dancing going?
...and, just a personal 'thanks'...cause THIS blog is the one that inspired Gingerology... and my 'personal' quest to 'Find Ginger'...it's so cool that we pretty much found her!!! Hat Check Girl is still out there somewhere, but we'll find her eventually and bring her into the fold where she belongs...

    Thanks, Beth!!!!!

  4. I don't think there's anything wrong at all with this - you write about whatever you wish!

  5. The blog is great. Keep up the good work. I just finished her autobiography and was shocked to learn that she was accomplished Dancer/Singer/Actress before she teamed with Fred Astaire. She had alot of vaudeville stories and knew everyone.

I also have a blog that is devoted to classics from the 1930's to early 60's-http://midniteatsunsetandvine.blogspot.com/. Check it out when you have a chance.
