Gingering up my room, converting flatmates, and being sorely missed!

Is what I've mainly been up to! The posting drought has been somewhat severe, as I've been very busy settling in and making things beautiful!

Of course my room has generous helpings of VKM, but I had to tidy it before I could delight you all with pictures!!

So without further ado I introduce part 1... Gingering up my room!

Deviating from typical student "posterization" I got some massive Gingerpics printed, framed them and now have one over my bed, and one where I can see it as I wake up!!

This combined with my extensive Ginger DVD rack makes me feel fairly at home!!

I've been raving to my flatmates already about the thirties, musicals and of course Ginger and have so far managed to organize a flat screening of the Major and the Minor/Swingtime for next week.... I've been suprised how many people are interested, slightly concerned they may simply be humoring me though!!

Anyway, to summarise, hopefully I shall be able to post on a regular basis again, hope you missed bu obscure rambling,

Keep it gingery,

Beth XX

  1. How curious! We did the same here just a couple of days ago. I printed and frames several pics of them and hung them at our home walls... and, like in your pics, they look incredible but, of course, being Ginger (and Fred too) so gorgeous and sexy and in B&W... those pics can only look terrific.

Oh, and you are going organize a flat screening of the Major and the Minor/Swingtime for next week. yeah, teach them about 30's and a make them discover two fantastic movies... and do not forget to tell us about their reactions ;)

  3. I love the pictures you framed! I have a 24x36 Fred & Ginger poster hanging over my bed as a headboard! Great minds :D

Good luck with the screening! It would be great if you could get your flatmates to be big classic film fans!

  4. Good work on all accounts, Beth!!!

I have been thinking about getting some pics made into large posters... just so many possibilites, it is mind blowing!!!
I do love the solo Ginger pic... that whole photoshoot was great! And, a killer G&F picture, too!
Heck, I at least need a VKM movie poster to tack up beside my wife's "Gone With The Wind" poster! Will have to drop a note to Mr. Claus about that... :-)

Anyway, hope you are well, and school is going great for you!!! Keep winning converts!!!

AND, Keep it Gingery!!! (sorry, I have been using that one pretty extensively... but giving you credit! It's just the perfect phrase!!! You need to copyright it!!!) :-)

  5. Oh my goodness yours look so nice!! Mine are NOT framed, just sort of... STUCK onto the wall, haha! And if you're 'gingering up' your room so simplistically and beautifully, I definitely overdid my wall!! :S
Congrats on converting!! That's too much energy for me, and most of my floor consists of male men types... I don't think I would be as successful!
I've always loved that picture of Ginger in that biased check dress. So cool.

  6. ...er, HELLO...I am a male man type... :-]

...That reminds me of something...my wife was talking to one of her friends the other day, and somehow my...er...'interest' in Ginger came up... and the friend said, "REAL men don't watch Ginger Rogers movies..."
Well, guess you know how I felt about THAT... but then I thought, "Well, at least she knew who Ginger Rogers WAS..." and that somehow made me feel a bit better about it... but still chapped my hide a bit...

  7. "REAL men don't watch Ginger Rogers movies..."

What...?? Did that person really say such a big nonsense? Wow... that says a lot about that person.

I didn't know that men that liked gorgeous and hot women like Ginger weren't real... incredible.

Damn it! now seriously, where all the romanticism, were all the good taste and appreciation for gorgeous and classy women went? I really hate hearing comments like that one, Jwalker.

  8. "...er, HELLO...I am a male man type... :-]"
I had a feeling you were going to respond to that. :)
I appreciate the men who do, but I know it wouldn't go over so well in my case.

So what the friend is saying is that "real" men aren't interested in real women? So many women are so phony now. It sucks! Thankfully one of my good friends at school is classy... Fred and Ginger loving vintage wearing classy.

I was walking back tonight from going out and one of the football players complimented my vintage coat and shoes, but he seemed a little on the drunk side, so I don't really know how cognizant he was...

Don't they say that drunks people and kids don't lie...? ;)

Btw, do you still want me to color the picture?

  10. ...I guess I am supposed to like Paris Hilton, Jennifer Aniston and Britney Spears... sorry, just REALLY don't... I mean, they are all 'cute' in some degree or other, but Ginger would just crush them like a Packard would in a head-on with a 'smart' car...

thanks for all the 'back-up' regarding this...knew this would get some reaction!

BTW, Lauren...be wary of liquored-up football players... that's two strikes on them right there! :-)

Well that that would be a football player with the greatest taste I've ever met, if I just say so myself. :D

Yes about the picture! I commented on your blog about it!! I really really want it!!

"BTW, Lauren...be wary of liquored-up football players... that's two strikes on them right there! :-)"
AHAHAHA! He was wearing those early morning track suit type things that keep you really warm, and my roommate said he looked "comfy," but she meant it like, to sit on.
